Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized the Russian player secured his first title for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a torrid period, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface since that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has won 21 championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a trophy is particularly special," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, comprising in Halle in the past months.

His counter-punching play style and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had led some to doubt if his capacity to play at the top level was concluded.

Yet the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play assertively, supported by an improved serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players traded breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 initial chances in a competitive third set before the champion won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, he secured victory with a shot at the net area, with Moutet incapable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
