Vehicles in Germany's City Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Police
Authorities reported they were contacted by a resident who noticed a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Approximately fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.

Law enforcement then located multiple other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement say early analysis indicate the liquid was most likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; authorities are currently not aware of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.

Local authorities announced they were working "to resolve the case" and have asked to the public for details.

An important political figure stated the incident made him speechless and needed to be solved promptly.

"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at people of immigrant origin in 2020.
